After high-stake polling, it's thanksgiving time for cadre on social media

After the high-stake polling in the Vidhan Sabha election 2017 ended in Uttarakhand on Wednesday, it is now time for thanksgiving. Messages are being sent by the   activists of the parties in the fray on the social media, thanking the voters for their large turnout. However, some of them are engaged in reviewing things over their mobile phones, seeking to get clue to the drift of the poling with the people having kept the parties on tenterhooks.

A senior academician from Haridwar said he was surprised as someone with an impressive voice called him up. “It was a surprise call.  The person on the line introduced himself as a member of the Prasant Kishor group.   Generally in Haridwar, we get callers speaking in Hindi, but this person spoke good English and asked me about the winning trend on Haridwar urban seat,”  he said.

While the Congress activists are thanking the people for ensuring the triumph of democracy and secularism the BJP activists on the other hand are calling themselves on the WhatsApp messages as fighters for the cause of nationalism.

Highlighting lotus, the symbol of their party, which is also the national flower of the country, BJP supporters thanked the voters for voting for nationalism while calling patriotism as their prime character.

“Elephant is not our national animal neither cycle is the national vehicle nor does hand represent the nation’s body. It is thus gratifying that the people have chosen to stamp on the   national flower, lotus to strengthen our national character,” read one message sent by a young college student, a supporter of BJP.
