After 4 arrests, hunt on for fifth IS agent

Following fresh revelations in the case of four suspected  terrorists being arrested from Roorkee for having contrived  a  plan of terror strike during the Ardh Kumbh Mela now going on in Haridwar, police are now hunting for  the fifth member of the terror gang identified as Mohsin, an IS agent hailing from Muzaffarnagar.

Police said they had come to learn that Mohsin had given Rs50,000 to the  four alleged IS operatives to execute the blast at the Mela. Apart from this amount, the quartet was learnt to have been given Rs60,000 to conduct the terror attack.  Some more names have come under the scanner following interrogation of the arrested quartet by the investigative agencies, say the sources. Meanwhile, interrogation is on after a threat letter was recovered by the police.

As per the sources, the international terrorist organisation IS had distributed lakhs of rupees to its operatives to execute serial blasts in Delhi, NCR region and Haridwar. NIA and IB are now engaged in the operation to grab  Mohsin, supposedly hiding presently in parts of Dehradun and Haridwar districts.

According to the police, the funder Mohsin, supposedly assisting the four IS operatives based at landhaura village in Roorkee stayed in a rented house in Kishenpur near Roorkee for some time. He is also learnt to have spent a few days at Piran Kaliyar to participate in the annual Urs festival.

Police  remain tight-lipped over the ongoing operation to hunt down others, including  Mohsin, involved in the IS- run terror net. However, sources say they are conducting raids  in different parts of Haridwar and Dehradun districts, believing that Mohsin and some others might be hiding here.

SP rural Parmendra Dobhal told The Pioneer, “A threat letter issued in the name of IS was handed over to us by the Army personnel on Wednesday. They had found it lying near the Army gate in Roorkee. We are working on it to find out whether  it is in any way connected to the recent arrest of the four alleged terrorists. Investigation is now on. We are not yet in a position to divulge more. Maybe, it  was written by a prankster.  We are not  ruling out any possibility. Things  would be clear after the investigation is over.”
