Alarmed over the rampant impersonation going on in the examinations in the important educational institutions, the administration has decided to screen the documents of the students nabbed by Special Investigation Team, in the forensic laboratory of Dehradun. The inspecting officer of the local police station has written to the director , BAMS College based in Rishikul to arrange for the original documents for the purpose.
In August, Dehradun police had busted a gang whose members impersonated to appear in the pre -medical tests by taking fake admission in BAMS colleges. Following thorough investigation, the police had found fake persons impersonating the candidates during the examination in the Rishikul campus of Uttarakhand Ayurvedic College in Haridwar.
This was followed by a joint operation involving Dehradun and Haridwar Police that had checked the certificates and other documents of the students submitted during the admission between 2009 to 2016. While nine students were arrested by the police, cases were registered against another ten.
A list of 17 absent candidates was also given by the college management to the district administration and police. In the investigation held on August 30 and 31, two more such names surfaced and the accused were arrested by police from the college campus. The inspecting officer of Mayapur police station Durgesh Kothiyal told The Pioneer on Monday that the examination of the documents involving the students was going on.
“The director of Rishikul Ayurvedic College has been asked to provide the original documents and certificates of the accused students. When obtained, they would be tested in the state forensic laboratory. In the laboratory, the finger prints, signatures, admit cards and documents submitted during counseling of students would be thoroughly checked.”
The candidates had approached High Court following which the court asked for the progress report from the local police, said Durgesh, adding that they had been sent.
