Admin fails to ensure advance ration for far-off Tehri villages

The failure of district food and supply office to ensure supply of advance ration to the far-off villages in Tehri district is irking the residents here.

The advance ration for the months of August and September generally reaches the villages well in advance due to the fear of road blockage and disasters during the monsoon months, but this year the department has not been able to send this ration in advance despite several reminders, alleged residents of the affected villages here.

With the monsoon rains gaining ground the damage to the roads in Bhilangana, Pratapnagar Block could result in a situation wherein the ration shops are devoid of ration which would make life very difficult for the villagers.  When asked about this situation, officials of the Food and Civil Supplies department said that the advance ration quota has been released and will be sent by the end of this month to the rural areas.
