Now the people evacuated from different disaster-hit partsof the Garhwal region may also reach their home in Kumaon division via Gairsain-Chaukhutiya and Dwarahat routes as the Almora district administration claims to have made adequate deployment of manpower at different relief camps to take care of the disaster-hit victims of Almora region and those who are coming from the Garhwal side.
"In a bid to ensure proper care of disaster-hit victims, we have deployed staff at different relief camps across the district," said Akshat Gupta, District Magistrate, Almora. "Under our disaster management plan, these officials have been deployed in different relief camps till June 30. During this period, these officials would remain in touch with respective SDMs and tehsildars so that proper arrangements could be made for the victims in these relief camps," added the District Magistrate.
According to the Almora district administration, the relief camps have been set up at different tehsil headquarters, including Bhikiyasain, Salt, Dwarahat, Chaukhutiya, Ranikhet, Almora city, Someshwar, Jainti and Bhanoli. Meanwhile, keeping in view the diversion of vehicular traffic from Chamoli district, the Almora district administration has also directed all the petrol pump owners of the district to ensure availability of fuel in adequate quantity so that the motorists who are coming from Chamoli may get fuel for their vehicles.
At the same time, we have also urged the Government to take necessary steps to ensure proper supply of fuel to the petrol pumps on some important routes covering Chaukhutiya, Dwarahat and Ranikhet areas, informed the officials concerned of the Almora district administration.
In order to help disaster victims the Almora district administration has already set up a control room at the Almora tehsil with telephone number - 05962-237874 and toll free number 1077. Similarly, control rooms have also been set up at Jaiti and at Bhanauli with telephone number 05962-275649 and 05962-263075 respectively. A control room has also been set up at Someshwar with telephone number 05962-243186, while the control room number of Ranikhet is 05966-221376.
The control room number of Dwarahat is 05966- 244860 and 05966-244815 and the control room number of the Salt is 05966-238802. The Almora district administration as also set up control rooms at Bhikiyasain with telephone number 05966-242025, while the control room numbers of the Chaukhutiya are 05966-246699 and 05966-246295, added the officials concerned.
