The Ministry of Home, Government of India, has applauded the Uttarakhand Police for the successful implementation of C-FRO Module under Immigration Visa Foreigner’s Registration and Tracking (IVFRT) project in the State.
Informing this, State Director General of Police BS Sidhu said on Wednesday that under this project, police would view the activities of the foreigners through tracking system. “It helps us to find out whether they are indulging in crimes, illegal trade of drugs, swindling and other such activities. It is proving very effective to keep tab on the movements of the foreigners,” he said.
The police officer said that IVFRT is a mission mode project of the Central government to trace the activities of the foreign nationals during their tour in various cities of the country. Another object of the project is to facilitate the foreigners to sort out visa-related issues, he said. “However, it is an important project from the nation’s security point of view,” he added.
This project kick- started in Haridwar district of the state on November 9, 2012. It was followed in Dehradun on May 6, 2013. All the districts of the state were covered under it by the end of December 2014.
Under this scheme, a foreign registration office has been established in each district of the state and based on online registration application from the foreign nationals, visa- related facilities like registration, visa extension, visa conversion, exit permit and others are available.
In Haridwar, Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital districts, a total of 2060 foreign nationals have filed online registration till date. Facilities like extension of visa for 951 foreigners, exit permit for 92 foreigners and visa conversion for 28 foreigners have been provided so far. Such facilities are available in other districts of the state, Sidhu said, adding that they are using it in full to ensure that security of the nation is not compromised.
