More than 300 Vikrams are illegally operating in the state capital and the Mahanagar City Buses Sewa Mahasangh (MCB SM) would take legal action against such vehicles. The President of MCBSM Vijay Vardan Dandariyal made this claim while addressing newsmen here on Wednesday. He said that responding to a Right to Information (RTI) application filed by him the transport department has handed over a list of 774 Vikrams which are operating in the city.

Dandariyal claimed that the MCBSM conducted a survey of Vikrams which are actually running in the city. Four teams consisting of four members each conducted the survey for two days in different routes of the city. He claimed that the survey revealed that as many as 302 Vikrams ply in the city without clearance from the transport department.

Dandariyal even handed over the list consisting of the registration numbers of these illegal vehicles to the journalists in the press conference. The survey revealed 44 illegal vehicles on Rajpur road, 57 vehicles on Dharampur, 93 on Majra- Seemadwar, 26 on Premnagar, 30 on Motharawala, and 19 vehicles on MDDA Kedarpuram route.

The President of city buses federation alleged that these illegal vehicles are running in the city at the behest of transport department officials. He said that the federation demands that the strong punitive action should be taken against these vehicles. Dandriyal said that the FIR should be filed against such illegal operators so that their operation is curtailed in the city. He threatened that if the transport department fails to curb the operation of these illegal vehicles than the federation would be forced to take their agitation to national capital.
