The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has totally failed to stop use of banned polythene bags and polystyrene items with shopkeepers and locals freely using these materials.
Municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey stated that necessary steps are being taken by MCD to stop use but more focus is needed on manufacturers of these banned items.
Pandey said, “Our officers conduct drives and penalise people or shopkeepers found using these materials but higher authorities need to stop manufacturing of these materials.
