The Communist Party of India (Marxist leninist) has demanded lodging of a criminal case and necessary action against Girdhari lal Sahu, the husband of State Minister for Women and Child Development Rekha Arya. The CPI (Ml) stated that Sahu has been accused of duping one of his own employees and facilitating the theft of his kidney. The party has also demanded that Arya should be removed from her post to prevent her from coming to the aid of her husband. The communists also criticised CM Trivendra Singh Rawat’s silence of this matter, pointing that the State Government claims to have a zero-tolerance attitude towards corruption. A statement issued by CPI (Ml) states that despite Sahu’s criminal record, not only did the BJP field Arya in the Assembly elections but also made her a State Minister. She has been trying consistently to influence serious cases against her husband since becoming a Minister, alleged the CPI (Ml).
