In the case of acid attack that happened on the night of June 7 in Swami Rama Himalayan University, the accused is still on the run. Station House Officer of Doiwala police station, Rakesh Gusain said that police teams are still searching for the accused. His mobile phone has been switched off since June 5 and he hasn’t visited his home at Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh yet.

SHO Gusain said, “There were two-three places that were his usual places, where our teams have already searched for him. We stationed officers at his home too, but he has not visited it yet. We are searching and expect that he will be caught soon.”

When asked about the status of victim Rohit (24), he said, “He was out of danger, but the doctors were assessing the damage that was done. His eyes, neck and face had been affected by the acid thrown on him. The doctors are concerned mainly for his eyes.”

He further added, “Both the accused and the victim were friends in the past. They had studied together in Gujarat. However, they only stopped talking to each other about eight months ago. The investigation is ongoing; it is too early to say anything for sure.”

According to the complaint filed by the victim’s father Mahendra Singh Mehra, on June 7 at about 9:30 pm his son came back from the hospital as usual. He alleged that Shubham Saini, a resident of Saharanpur threw acid on his son’s face and ran from the place.
