The people from Dehradun are grappling with the acute shortage of domestic gas cylinders with no truck from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) bottling plants based in Haridwar and Karnal in Haryana having reached the gas agencies in Garhwal region over the past four days. Sources say that the flood in Gujarat is coming in the way of the gas reaching the bottling plant in Haridwar, leading to the shortage.
IOC, Dehradun area officer SK Sinha said that discussion over this issue is on at the higher level. However, he declined to enlighten over the reason leading to the gas cylinders from the bottling plants in Haridwar and Karnal not reaching the agencies in the region.
With no truck laden with cylinders coming to the gas agencies in Dehradun since Thursday from the IOC bottling plants at Karnal and Haridwar, backlog in various gas agencies in the state capital is rising.
Customers are visiting their respective agencies to procure cooking gas, but they are returning disappointed with cooking gas not arriving at the agencies.
Ramesh, a customer who reached Sahkari Bazaar Gas Service, said that he had booked his cylinder a week ago, but he has not yet received it.
