A Right to Information (RTI) activist has claimed that the academic degrees of the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidyalaya are fake. The activist Hariphal Singh had filed an RTI application seeking the academic qualification of the VC.
Haripal Singh said that the information provided to him reveals that VC had cleared the Madhyama (equivalent to higher secondary examination) in the year 1962 from Jhajjar in Haryana. Singh claimed that the institute from where VC has taken the higher secondary degree actually started Madhyama course in the year 1968 which puts question mark on the degree of VC. The date of the birth of the VC in the academic records is mentioned January 12, 1951 which means that he had completed the higher secondary examination in the age of 11 years only.
The activist claimed that the VC has submitted three different type of information regarding his academic achievements in different institutions where he had served. He said that the other degrees too are suspicious. He further said that he had filed a complaint against VC, and SSP Haridwar had ordered an inquiry on the issue but the pace of the inquiry is very slow. The spokesperson of Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD), Panwar faction, Manmohan lakhera said that the appointment of the VC of Gurukul Kangri varsity raises many questions which warrant immediate action.
