ABVP to protest commercialisation of education

In protest against the alleged ‘commercialisation of education’ and plight of students thousands of activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) would participate in a ‘Mahasangram rally’ on August 20 and march towards the State Assembly, announced State president of ABVP Ramakant Srivastava here on Sunday.

He said due to lack of infrastructure, fund crunch, lack of research and quality education are plaguing the higher education of the State. Charging the State Government for being responsible for the pathetic condition of education, Srivastava claimed maintenance of college buildings, libraries and toilets were not done for years in the State. He said schools in the urban areas were having surplus teachers while the rural areas were suffering due to lack of teachers. The ABVP leader said private school operators were engaging dictatorial activities and added ABVP would organise a Mahasangram rally to highlight the plight of education and students.

Informing about the recently concluded training session of ABVP members at Nainital, Srivastava said the theoretical and practical aspects of the organisation were discussed in the four-day session. He said experts gave lectures on topics like organisational set up, its principles, work culture, membership, worker development, college contact programme, tribal works, teaching activities, press management, social media and street plays during the programme. The national organisational secretary Sunil Ambekar and other top office bearers of the ABVP were present in the training session.
