In protest against the alleged loot by private schools, the activists of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a demonstration at the office of the District Education Officer (DEO) here on Thursday. The members of the student organisation gathered at the office of the DEO and engaged in vehement slogan shouting against the education department and the private school owners.
later a delegation led by District Coordinator of ABVP, Paras Goyal met the DEO secondary, K N Kala and demanded that the department should take strict action the schools which are engaged in open loot of parents. The delegation told the DEO that like every year the private school operators have started their usual antics of exploiting the parents this time also.
The students said that these schools extract fat capitation fees from the parents at the time of admission and demand registration fees every year in gross violation of norms. Goyal said that these schools exploit the parents by opting for the books of private publishers which are costly and dictating their terms on the uniform of the students.
He said that the district education department does not take the complaints against these schools seriously and merely issues notices to these schools in case of any public furor. The DEO assured the delegation that action would be taken against the schools involved in malpractices.
The delegation included DAV student union President, Rakesh Negi, Muskeh Bisht , Ajay Tomar and others.
