The Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) declared candidates for the student union elections of DBS and MKP Colleges on Thursday. Announcing the names of the candidates the State President of ABVP, Ramakant Srivastava said that Arun Kumar would be the Presidential candidate in the DBS College. In MKP PG College, the ABVP has made Pragati its candidate for the position of President while Gulafsa Naz is the candidate for the post of Vice President. Similarly Megha Kat, Naina Chandana and Vaishali Yadav would be the candidates for the post of Secretary, Joint Secretary and Treasurer respectively. ABVP has nominated Sushmita Bhandari for the position of University Representative (UR). The elections in MKP College would be organised on August 22 while elections in DBS College are scheduled for August 26.
The State President of ABVP said that due to lack of infrastructure, funds, research and quality education the higher education of the state is in very bad condition. He said that the youth of the State are suffering due to this pathetic condition of education so the organisation has decided to undertake a massive rally to the residence of state Chief Minister on August 20 to waken up the government.
Srivastava said that the students of the state are suffering due to late declaration of examination results, delayed examination conduction, lack of basic amenities and infrastructure. He state that the state has large number of youths who have passed class XII but are not able to get admission in the colleges. “These youths are frustrated and many of them are being exploited by the private institutes”, he said. Sanket Nautiyal, Kaushal Kumar, Vikram Pharsawan, Gautam Matiyali, Tilak Raj Gupta and other ABVP leaders were present on the occasion.
