The activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) burned the effigy of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi at DAV College here on Monday.  The activists vented their anger on Gandhi for unduly politicizing the unfortunate suicide of Rohit Vemula in Hyderabad recently.

The students belonging to ABVP assembled at the DAV College chowk and shouted slogans against Rahul Ganghi for giving a caste angle to the suicide. The DAV college President Rakesh Singh Negi said that in last few years 12 Dalit students of the university has ended their lives but the congress did not cared to lend its voice in the deaths of these students.

He said that the congress leaders have politicized the matter and repeated use of word Dalit in the suicide of Rohit is part of a conspiracy. Other speakers also blamed the congress and said that Dalit vs non Dalit debate on the death of research scholar should be immediately stopped. The agitated workers then consigned the effigy of Congress Vice President to flames as mark of their protest.
