The Education department appears to be saving the skin of its officers who were found guilty of not discharging their duties in the case of the absence of teachers in the schools during the massive inspections of the schools on May 24.
The department promptly suspended large number of teachers after the inspections but it is dilly dallying on actions against the Block Resource Coordinators (BRC), Cluster Resource Coordinators (CRC) and Block Education Officer (BEOs).
Surprise raids were conducted by special teams of Education department on the Saturday, May 24 in 863 schools across the state. Incidentally the day was last working day before the summer vacations. The teams found large number of absent teachers and laxity in preparing Mid Day Meal (MDM) in their inspections. Acting strictly on the erring teachers the department suspended 80 teachers on the reports of the officers who headed the raiding teams. It is learnt that the recommendations for actions against BRC, CRC and BEOs were also made by these teams. The education department also said at that time that action would be taken against the erring officers for failing in the monitoring activities. The action against these officers was initiated by the department but it appears that the file of actions against the senior officers has stuck somewhere.
