Disappointment descended on the Congress cadre on Wednesday after noted political strategist Prashant Kishor failed to turn up to train the booth level party workers who had come from across the State. The arrangements made falling flat, the party workers were seen sitting gloomily as they were deprived of the ‘juicy tips’ for winning elections. Prashant Kishor remaining elusive, Chief Minister Harish Rawat and Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyay took it upon themselves to hold the restive workers back. Rawat asked them to stay united for the election while addressing them.
“The only thing that is needed with Bharatiya Janata Party out to divide people is unity. They would use every trick in the book to polarise the electorate. Vigilance is the need of the time. I have given my best to Haridwar. Now it is your turn,” he said, adding that the Vidhan Sabha election 2017 is important as it is the “semi-final” for the 2019 elections that would be the “finals”. The publication of the candidates’ list being on the cards, he asked the workers not to give in to despair in case the list fails to satisfy them all.
“It is impossible to give tickets to all the seekers,” CM said. With the workers waiting expectantly, the PCC vice president Jot Singh Bisht shared some of his experiences with the party cadre and enlightened them on some strategic points to take the BJP's strategy head-on.
