The Dehradun police has rescued a minor who was allegedly abducted from Sahaspur forest area and molested. Both the kidnappers were arrested.
She was abducted at Kedarwala, Vikasnagar area by two kidnappers on Saturday noon. The intention behind the abduction was to molest her, police said. The duo was identified as Asraf, private bus driver and resident of Rudrapur, Sahaspur and his friend Talim, resident of Kedarwala. Both the accused were sent to Suddhowala jail after being presented in the court on Sunday.
Dehradun SP Rural GC Dhyani said that the abductors had taken advantage of the fact that the minor along with her mother were roaming around ISBT on Friday night.
“Things happened because of the domestic feud between the minor’s parents. On Saturday morning, seeing them alone at ISBT, one of the accused Asraf took her mother into confidence and assured helping her to reach her home at Sabhawala. Trio boarded a bus at ISBT for Sabhawala, Vikasnagar. Meanwhile, Asraf asked his friend Talim to reach Baluwala on his bike. Trio got down at Baluwala and the four sat on the same bike. Victim’s mother questioned when the accused were heading towards forest area. Bike stopped at a desolate place in the forest area and both the accused began molesting the minor and her mother. Meanwhile, the victim’s mother left, reached the police station at Vikasnagar and informed police about the incident”.
Circle officer Vikasnagar SK Singh said that the police had acted swiftly, sealed the area and conducted combing operation. After police had gheraoed the area the abductors left the minor in the forest area and escaped into denser areas of the forest. Police rescued the minor and handed her over to the family.
Several teams were formed to nab the accused. Finally, success came as the accused were arrested early Sunday morning. The accused had planned to kill the minor after gang-raping her, police said.
In course of interrogation, both admitted their offenses. A case under sections 366a/354/376/511/506 of IPC and sections 7/8 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was lodged against the accused. They were sent to Suddhowala jail after being produced in the court. Victim’s medical was conducted on Monday and her statement under section 164 of CrPC will be recorded before the magistrate on Tuesday, a Sahaspur police officer said.
