The performance of Aam Aadami Party ( AAP) candidates in the urban local body (ULB) polls  would decide whether  the party would  contest  the 2019 Lok Sabha elections,  said the state in- charge of the party, Rakesh Sinha while addressing the media persons here on Friday. He said that the party is fighting in some selected ULBs where it is strong. He said that the party is now fully focused on the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) elections.

“We are hopeful of a splendid performance as our mayoral candidate Rajni Rawat is drawing huge support from the people here.  If elected, the party would go all -out to eliminate corruption from MCD,” he said.

He further said the AAP would introduce the system of Mohalla clinics and set up rain water harvesting system in the city if its candidate is elected mayor. Sinha said that his party would soon release a vision document in which emphasis would be laid on sanitation, modern road network and corruption- free system.

“Many prominent members of the society are joining the party during its campaigning. This reveals the confidence the people have in AAP to stem the rot  with corruption having spread its roots into the system. They know that our party alone can cleanse   the system,” he said. Mayoral candidate of AAP, Rajani Rawat said that despite BJP helming MCD for the past ten years, the condition of sanitation in the city has remained unchanged.

“The people are fed up with both Congress and BJP as their leaders have been looting them,” she said.

Invoking the slum eviction problem, she said that providing ownership rights to the slum dwellers and development of the city are on top of her agenda. The party held a ‘election training workshop’ for its workers and candidates for the election of the councillors on the day.
