AAP to contest all 5 lS seats in State

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would contest all the five lok Sabha seats of State and reports of the party not putting its candidate against BJP candidate Maj Gen Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri in Garhwal lok Sabha seat are baseless and mischievous. The State coordinator of AAP, HC Arya informed this to The Pioneer on Tuesday.

The fledgling party has nominated first women DGP of state Kanchan Choudhary from Haridwar, B S Cheema form Nanital ,HC Arya from Almora  and Anup Nautiyal from Tehri for the ensuing general elections. Speculations were rife that the party would not field candidate from Garhwal lok Sabha seat as a gesture of solidarity with the Khanduri who brought the first lok Pal bill during his tenure as CM. Arya termed these reports as the mischievous rumors being spread by the BJP and Congress. He said that the party would announce a formidable candidate against Khanduri soon. When asked about the possibility of party fielding lt Gen TPS Rawat who merged his Uttarakhand Raksha Morcha with AAP recently, Arya said that TPS has refused to enter the electoral fray citing health problems.

Arya claimed that the Congress party in state has accepted the defeat as its top leaders are refusing to enter the battle of polls fearing defeat. He added that in Uttarakhand the battle is narrowing down to BJP and AAP and congress is nowhere in the picture.

The AAP added Bollywood spice to the electoral battle of Uttarakhand on Tuesday when the famous film and TV personality Archana Puran Singh campaigned for party’s candidate from Tehri Anup Nautiyal. Singh who belongs to Dehradun did a road show with Nautiyal from Krishan Nagar Chowk to Ballupur Chowk. The film and TV actress asked the voters to vote for change and give a chance to AAP this time.
