The Dehradun district unit of the Aam Aadmi Party staged a protest near Parade Ground on Tuesday and demanded immediate arrest of remaining accused in murder of 18-year-old Nitin a resident of Ambedkar Marg, Dl Road who was stabbed to death after argument with a group of six youth in broad daylight on Sunday.
Dalanwala police had arrested three accused on Monday while the remaining accused are still absconding. Dozens of AAP members sat on day long demonstration while shouting anti-government slogans. The party district secretary Rajesh Bahuguna alleged that police had tortured 19 year old Adhoiwala (Raipur) resident Ankit which led to his suspicious death on January 25.
In this case, another accused named Deepak has not been arrested by the police so far. In the murder case of Dl Road resident Nitin, police had arrested one of the accused Niluwa, son of a local councilor Neetu but released him after questioning due to political pressure. The AAP members demanded arrest of those police personnel who had released Niluwa after questioning him in the murder case of Nitin apart from arresting those police personnel who had allegedly tortured Ankit which led to his suspicious death.
Another AAP member Sunita Singh expressed anger at the delay in apprehending the culprits in both the murder cases. This has questioned police functioning over this issue. These two incidents have led to widespread anger among the residents of the localities and she demanded both the police posts- Nalapani post and Karanpur post should be dissolved without delay. She alleged that police had failed to provide security to the residents of Dehradun.
She warned that AAP will protest on the roads if police failed to arrest the remaining culprits in both the murder cases.
