Demanding concrete steps for the safety of women in the schools, colleges and other places, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers held a demonstration at the office of district Magistrate here Wednesday. The demonstrators held placards and shouted slogans for safety of women at the public places.

The AAP workers later handed over a memorandum directed to the Chief Minister Harish Rawat to the District Magistrate. In the memorandum the AAP workers demanded that the administration should deploy close circuit cameras in schools, colleges, outside women toilets, offices, cabins of department heads and city streets to keep a watch on the activities of offenders. The AAP asked to recruit more women guards and creation of a special women force which is fully equipped to deal with cases of atrocities against women. The agitators demanded that the state government should give a guarantee for the safety of women. The AAP workers warned that the issue of women safety can take shape of a massive public movement if the state government fails in acting swiftly on it. Uma Sisodia, Sheela Rawat, Somesh Budakoti, Ritu Dimri, Kamal Devradi and Dinesh Negi were part of the delegation which submitted the memorandum.
