The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Anoop Nautiyal has welcomed the decision of the State Government to seek public opinion for the smart city project in Dehradun.
He added that had the state government taken this decision early then it would have avoided the ignominy of being placed on last position in the ranking for the smart city. The AAP leader said that it is very important that the opinion of labourers of tea estate and people residing nearby is taken into consideration. However, objecting to the provision of seeking suggestion only through emails, the AAP leader said that other methods should also be employed as very less number of residents are internet savvy. He said acquiring land in places like Nainisar and Pokhra without taking local people into confidence has not augured well for the development of the State.
