The Aam Aadami Party (AAP) leader Anoop Nautiyal has shot off a letter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Chief Anil Kumar Sinha, requesting him to conduct an inquiry into the Excise Scam of Uttarakhand.
In the letter Nautiyal said that a video showing the former Personal Secretary (PS) to the Chief Minister Harish Rawat, Mohammad Shahid, came into public domain in July 22 last year in which the IAS officer of Gujarat cadre was allegedly making a deal for making changes in the Excise Policy of the State.
He said Rawat, instead of taking action against the official, appeared to save the bureaucrat as he ignored the demand of a CBI inquiry and just ordered an inquiry headed by Principal Secretary Om Prakash.
In the letter the AAP leader said the State Government had not yet put the finding of the inquiry in the public knowledge and media. Nautiyal said the country's premier investigation agency should investigate the matter and book the culprits to task.
