AAP leader alleges rigging in Smart City online poll, demands CBI probe

Aam Aadami Party (AAP) leader Anoop Nautiyal has alleged rigging in smart city online poll being conducted to know the opinion of the people on the smart city endevour.

In a letter directed to Prime Minister, Union Urban Development Minister and other senior officers of Government of India, the AAP leader has demanded a CBI enquiry in the matter as it appears that the Uttarakhand Government and the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) are violating the Dehradun Smart City online poll being conducted on Government of India website.

The online polling exercise started on February 28, and will continue till March 15. The city of Dehradun has been divided in four zones and six options have been given to the citizen to cast his/her vote online. Nautiyal said that the trends of polling till date shows that 81 percent of people have voted for Greenfield project at tea estate, which is hard to digest. “This is unimaginable considering that the very vast majority of the citizens of Dehradun had initially wanted that the creaking infrastructure of Dehradun should first get fixed instead of building the smart city on the tea estate. The inordinately high score of 81 Percent for one single option out of a total of six options is highly suspicious and points towards the possibilities of alleged online rigging,’’ he said.

The AAP leader claimed that it has come to his notice that MDDA has commercially tied up with some marketing organisations to manipulate online voting pattern. He suggested that MDDA should plan a massive door to door citizen campaign to seek actual view of people on the issue. Nautiyal also added that view of all 20000 people living in and around the tea estate should be compulsorily taken.
