A woman's novel protest to demand jobs for U'khand statehood activists

Published on:

Demanding fresh identification of statehood activists and seeking government jobs for them, among others, a woman statehood activist, Kamla Devi, a resident of Uttarkashi, climbed atop a tree at Collectorate campus on Saturday. After around three hours, she came down following assurance from the Chief Minister regarding her demands.

The development catching the district administration off-guard has left the district officials in a tizzy. They rushed to the spot and started persuading her to come down. Kamla Devi alleged that the State Government has failed to meet their long-term demands. “We keep staging stirs, but to no avail,” she said, adding that she was forced to take such a drastic step.
