No more case like the infamous one of the hardcore criminal Amit Malik alias Bhura escaping police custody is likely to happen in the Dehradun following the successful conducting of video-conferencing between Dehradun court and Suddhowala jail held on Monday. Eight undertrials were presented in the court through video-conferencing for their trial one by one and their judicial remands were extended.
Four under-trails appeared in CJM court while four in the court of ADJ-I through video conferencing.
The process of securing remand will be conducted at 12 pm daily through video- conferencing after coordination between court and jail is established.
Dehradun SSP Sadanand Shankar Rao Date directed the investigating officers of all the police stations to produce remand paper and case dairy in the court by 10 am each day.
Successful implementation of the process would bring revolutionary change in the judicial process as time and expenses would be reduced, Date said.
He further said it would stop criminals from escaping while being taken to other places under police custody for hearing.
Police sources said that video conferencing involving the jail inmates had been prevalent in the State a few years back. But it discontinued due to some reasons. This process would help the judicial officials as well as the jail authorities to complete the judicial remands of the under- trial prisoners in a short time without risking them being transported outside the jails they are lodged. This system would also be developed in other districts of the State.
