A massive protest was staged at the head office located at Mohini Road in Dalanwala area of Dehradun. There are more than 2500 officers/ employees and 1600 pensioners of Nigam who are on a war path with the Government.

Speaking to The Pioneer the President of the coordination committee, A K Chaturvedi said that the all the employees of the Nigam have not received salaries since past four months and now they have no option but to lock the offices across the State.

“Since the Chief Minister’s assurance regarding compensation of differential amount of salaries and pension till the department is absorbed in Uttarakhand Government is not being followed by the state Government even after three months of the declaration we feel ashamed that the bureaucracy has no regard for order of CM. We now demand that the State Government should close the department altogether,’’ said an agitated Chaturvedi.

At the head office where the employees are sitting on a Dharna for last many days, a massive demonstration was organised. The speakers on the occasion said that the all the employees and officers of the Nigam are united on the issue and are determined to take the fight to the logical conclusion. The strike of the Nigam employees would affect the construction works in all the drinking water projects.
