Those wanting to ascertain whether they are at risk from diabetes or not, short list the signs and symptoms from the given 20 odd points, see if any three or more are obvious and then make a visit to the doctor.
This was stated at a free diabetes checkup and awareness camp organised by a city based doctor near old Ranipur Mod.
The general symptoms like being very thirsty, hungry or tired, having blurry eyesight, getting tingling in your feet, losing weight abruptly, urinating more often indicate that it is time to visit the doctor for a blood test.
Deep and rapid breathing or heart beat, dry skin, flushed face, vomiting like feeling, shaking, sweating and weakness also indicate that that the blood glucose level may be high.
Speaking to The Pioneer, city based diabetes expert Dr M S Singhal said, “In view of the occasion of children’s day we have launched this free diabetes awareness camp for all age groups from 10 to 4 pm. The complications arising due to diabetes are fast among the children so it must be checked at the early stage.”
Since everything is available these days at the click of a mouse, online web portals also allow one to do risk assessment of diabetes.
“Just log on to www.Grass-diabetes .com and assess the blood sugar level if it is on margin. We also give free eye testing facility during the camp,” said Singhal, adding that for full one month, a person can come for free consultations.
