On the directions of the Century Pulp and Paper Mill chief operating officer Jai Prakash Narayan, the mill officials gave away 5,000 saplings of eucalyptus trees to villagers free of cost at the local Tehsil. The mill officials expressed hope that tree plantation in the rural area will greatly help in environmental conservation.

A team of officials from the mill along with Tehsildar Anand Singh Bhandari reached the lalkuan Vidhan Sabha area on Thursday and distributed clones of 25 varieties of eucalyptus to 150 villagers. Officials of the mill’s social forestry department informed the villagers about the method of planting and maintaining the trees. The officials averred that the Century Pulp and Paper Mill will distribute saplings free of cost among farmers in the future to encourage environmental conservation. The effort is not aimed at simply facilitating the plantation of trees as the mill officials will periodically monitor the growth of the saplings planted.  The local Udyog Vyapar Mandal head Ashok Agrawal, mill officials Nagenera Ruvari, Dr RK Agrawal, MBS Dhoni, RS Bisht and others were also present on the occasion.
