The Uttarakhand Police is going to set up as many as 50 new police stations across the State and has demanded `5 crore from the State Government to strengthen basic police infrastructure.
The State police has demanded `5 crore from the Government to carry out renovation works in different police stations across the State. We have already received ` one crore for carrying out repair works in different police stations, said B S Siddhu, DGP, Uttarakhand, during his Kumaon visit here on Sunday.
later, we asked district police heads to submit their infrastructure development proposals. On the basis of the demand of different district police heads we have demanded additional `5 crore for strengthening the basic infrastructure of every district police, the DGP further informed. More so, the Government has now agreed in principle in this regard. Hopefully, the requisite fund will be made available in due course of time, added Sidhu.
Besides, we also have plan to set up as many as 50 police stations across the state in coming times ahead, further informed the DGP, Uttarakhand.
It is to note that there has been a tremendous increase in State’s population during the past a decade or so. More so, commercial activities have also gone up quite significantly. Besides, the pressure of the vehicular population which continues to be on the rise is not less burdening for the police. But little has been done to strengthen police infrastructure in the hill state.
However, apart from strengthening the basic police infrastructure, the DGP also emphasised on the need to deal with new challenges thrown by the cyber crime before the police effectively.
