The advocates of Dehradun Bar Association demonstrated at court campus on Tuesday evening when the five persons, accused of attacking an advocate and Dehradun Bar Association (DBA) auditor Ashutosh Gulati in Jhanda Bazaar over a parking tiff in the second week of July, were brought by the police in the court for hearing from Suddhowala jail.

The accused are Kapil, Sanjeev, Divya, Aashri and Devika, all residents of Jhanda Bazaar. No advocate appeared for the accused in the court. The accused were later sent for 14 days' judicial remand, it is learnt.

Senior police officers like SP City, inspectors and sub-inspectors reached the court based on intelligence input that advocates might create problems when the accused would be brought for hearing in the court from the jail on Tuesday.

It should be mentioned here that Gulati, resident of Patelnagar, had registered a case under sections 323/504/506/395 of IPC against unidentified persons in Kotwali Police Station, stating that he had been abused and manhandled at Jhanda Bazaar area. According to the complainant, he was beaten and abused despite the local residents having intervened to resolve the issue. Scuffle began when Mazir Mohallah residents asked advocate Gulati to shift his bike from the place it was parked.
