Five persons, including two women, died and two others were injured when the car they were sitting in was buried under the debris following heavy rain-triggered landslides at Ghatkhola on Tawaghat –Dharchula motor road under Dharchula Tehsil in Pithoragarh district at around 12.45 pm on Thursday. It is learnt that seven persons were in the car that was going to Dharchula from Elagar. While two persons died on the spot three others succumbed at Dharchula community health centre later. The deceased have been identified as Heera Devi (36), Kumari Priyanka () Omkar Bam (19), Jhusal Singh (55) and Vinod Kumar Vishwakarma ( 32). The injured have been identified as Madhvi Verma (20) and Damra Devi (27). SDRF and revenue police rushed to the spot. Governor Krishan Kant Paul and Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat expressed grief over death of five persons in the accident at Dharchula in Pithoragarh district.
