Five people died and one injured when the house they lived in collapsed after rain and landslides lashed village Mainna Palkaa of Patti Mawalsuyn in Chaubattakhal Tehsil of Pauri district on Wednesday night.
The deceased identified as Ranveer lal (38), Jyoti (11), Ritu (8), Radha (5) and Roshan (6) belonging to a family were buried alive. Ranveer's wife, who was injured as the roof came crashing down, was pulled out of the debris. Besides, four vehicles - two motor cycles, one max and one car - were swept away in the flow of swelling Gadhera at Channi village under Paubo block in the district early Thursday morning. After being informed about the death in village Mainna, both revenue police and Satpuli regular police sent rescue teams.
District magistrate Chandra Sekhar Bhatt, superintendent of police Ajai Joshi, SDM Pauri Pl Shah also reached the incident spot and supervise the rescue and relief work.They also saw to it that the compensation amounts reached the dependants of the deceased.Channi village under Paubo block was flooded following heavy rains. Several vehicles were swept away as the local stream swelled. large swathes of irrigated agriculture lands were also inundated.
