5 dead, 2 hurt in Haridwar, Tehri mishaps

Five people died and two seriously injured in two road accidents in Haridwar and Tehri districts on Thursday. A major road mishap occurred in Haridwar district on Thursday morning. Three members of a family died when the motor bike they were on was hit by a SUV, speeding from the opposite direction.

The accident occurred around 6.30 am at Kangri bridge crossing, Shyampur area in Haridwar. The SUV being in break-neck speed, the trio was dragged a few metres away by the vehicle. The bodies were sent for postmortem.  The SUV driver was arrested and police impounded the vehicle. A case under appropriate sections of IPC was registered against the driver in the police station, Haridwar, it is learnt.
