As many as 47 employees of different Government departments were found absent from their duties during a checking drive here on Monday.
The checking was launched on the directions of the Government in different departments located on Haldwani- Nainital Road from 10 to 11 on Monday morning. The Government departments where the checking drive was conducted include PWD, Jal Sansthan,UREDA,AyurvedicHospital,Watershed Management and Water Corporation to name a few and as many as 47 officials were found absent from their duties, said R D Paliwal, City Magistrate, Haldwani. After marking their absence in their respective office registers, a report has been sent to the District Magistrate for further action, added the City Magistrate. To mark presence in office late and to remain absent from duties without prior information is against the service rule.
So strong action should be taken against employees, said the officials concerned. The checking drive would continue its check against those who remain absent from duties, asserted the City Magistrate.
