Amid violation of lyngdoh Committee Recommendations, candidates of various students’ groups filed nomination on the various posts of students’ union election in DAV (PG) College campus on Monday.
A total of 45 candidates have filed nomination for the various posts of students’ union election. The polling will be held on September 2 and its results will be declared on September 3, said college election media in-charge Prashant Singh on Monday.
College was abuzz with students as large number of candidates filed their nomination papers. Accompanied by supporters, candidates filed their nomination before the election officer. Some of them were seen bursting crackers at the gate and dancing. later supporters were witnessed making rounds of the campus raising slogans in favour of their candidates. Spell of rain did not affect the supporters campaigning to garner support for their candidate.
Apparently because of their over-enthusiasm, the students’ leaders and their supporters are violating the lyngdoh committee recommendations during the nomination. However, the district administration and college administration seem to be looking the other way. Students were found distributing pamphlets and pictures of the candidates among the students as part of canvassing both inside and outside the college campus, something that amounts to violation of the norms. Again, a large number of outsiders are swarming in the rallies.
