Nainital district administration has withheld salary of 42 officials of the Municipal Corporation of Haldwani (MCH) for skipping duties and performing poorly on maintaining cleanliness at the corporation premises on Monday.
Miffed over the poor state of cleanliness in MCH premises, Deepak Rawat, District Magistrate, Nainital, who visited the civic body office unannounced asked the officials concerned to withhold salaries of three civic body officials. The same was ordered for 38 MCH employees for being absent from their duties on Monday morning.
The DM Nainital also asked the officials to withhold salary of another MCH employee for not rightly operating biometric machine meant to record the staffers’ attendance. His salary would be released after he learns to operate the machine rightly, DM said.
At the same time, DM asked the officials concerned of the corporation to improve its financial health.
Mention worthy, MCH has so far recovered only 1.56 crore as revenue in terms of house-rent and others so far this financial year while the target set for it for the year 2014-2015, was Rs2.58 crore.
Peeved with the sloth involving recovery of dues from different sources, the district administration directed the officials of the civic body to recover pending dues within given period of time and improve its financial health by way of augmenting new revenue sources.
The administration has emphasised on maintaining cleanliness of Haldwani and directed the MCH officials to take necessary steps to ensure this.
