As part of skill creation aimed at opening up new livelihood opportunities, Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), Bageshwar has started a four-month long Dress Designing and Garment Making Course at Bageshwar. The course is specifically designed for and aimed at aspiring female candidates keen on pursuing a profession or setting up their own independent enterprises covering dress designing and producing readymade garments.

Dr Jitendra Tiwari, Director, JSS Bageshwar, while addressing trainees of the programme, highlighted the point that at the present time, it is quite vital for one to be skilled for getting recognised and making use of the opportunities in a sector of one’s choice for improving livelihood opportunities. He also revealed that for deserving and aspiring beneficiaries, JSS makes available professional training and entrepreneurial education at nominal cost.

The objective is to help the beneficiaries find employment opportunities and livelihood openings locally. The trained female beneficiaries of this programme will be well equipped to design and produce a range of garments for children and ladies that would ultimately help them boost their income and living standards. What’s more, the trained women beneficiaries in addition to supporting their families through additional income will be able to boost their self- confidence level with a sense of fulfillment. JSS Bageshwar, which is under the aegis of the Dehradun–based Rural litigation and Entitlement Kendra (RlEK), is being financially assisted by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MoHRD).

JSS, Bageshwar, continues to receive unstinted support and constant guidance in all its endeavors from National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) which was set up by the Government of India as a public- private partnership organisation that is committed to the countrywide development of skill creation. With the Prime Minister Narendra Modi making a clarion call for speeding up the process of skill creation in the country, there is now a growing awareness about the importance of skill in radically transforming the society for the all round national development, the organisers said.
