Around 25 officers of various power institutions of Uttarakhand and Northern area had attended the meeting. Sumer Singh Yadav, managing director Power Transmission Corporation of Uttarakhand ltd (PTCUl) and Uttarakhand Power Corporation limited (UPCl) informed that efforts have been going on to end overloading of power lines and transformers. It was decided that 400 KV line from Koteshwar to Rishikesh will be established under Central Sector. In the meeting, the construction of two 220 KV sub-stations- one at Pithoragarh and one at Almora, was also approved. These two substations will be constructed by PTCUl. The construction of the substation in Pithoragarh will end the low voltage problem and power cuts due to overloading in Pithoragarh and its nearby areas while the 220 KV/132 KV substation at Almora will prevent power load problems in the future in Gairsan and Bhikiasain area.
