3000 NHM contractual workers to go on 2-day strike

Over 3000 contractual workers, working in different positions of the health department under National Health Mission, would observe a two- day strike from November 19.

In a letter addressed to the mission director of NHM, the president of the association of NHM contractual workers Sunil Bhandari said that the repeated pleas of the contractual workers to solve their problems have not been heeded, thus prompting  the workers to go on a work boycott.

The association demands constitution of a policy for regularisation of NHM workers.

The workers want HR policy be implemented and a policy to adjust NHM workers working in the hospital under PPP Mode be prepared at the earliest.

The association wants that proportional parity should be made in the allowance of the NHM workers working at the State, district and block levels and like other States the loyalty bonus should be paid to the NHM workers. The association wants that the Asha felicitators should be provided with fixed monthly remuneration.

Bhandari said that the association has informed about its work boycott plan on December 19 and 20 to the NHM directorate, secretary medical health, health directorate and district magistrates. He said that the agitation would be further intensified if the demands of the association are not accepted by then.
