Three member team of National Women Commission heard 13 women’s complaints during the public hearing held at police lines in Dehradun on Friday. Necessary instructions were given to the investigation officers concerned for swift redressal of the women’s complaints, officials said.

Three- member- team of National Women Commission led by retired IAS Alok Rawat heard some women’s complaints received at the commission. DIG Pushpak Jyoti, additional SP Mamta Vohra, additional SP Kamlesh Upadhyay were among the police officers present on the occasion.

During the hearing, a woman, frustrated with moving from pillar to post in quest of justice in a case of alleged sexual exploitation by an additional SP Parmender Dobhal, requested the commission members to hear out her complaint and to act on it.  She narrated her concerns too on the occasion, saying that justice was eluding her. However, the commission members asked her to submit written complaint following which they assured action.

The commission heard two girls aged around 25 who had earlier registered complaint against their father (55), alleging that he was no longer taking care of them following his second marriage around one and half year ago. Notably, their father is an assistant engineer in Bharat Heavy Electrical limited (BHEl). The Commission heard both sides and directed the father to give Rs 1000 to both his daughters and discharge other responsibilities while girls were directed to follow their father’s advice. The investigation officer concerned was directed to monitor the case once a week and submit report to the commission regularly.

Another complainant said during the hearing that her husband with whom she has been living in separation from is ill-treating her. She further said that she has two children (son and daughter). She alleged that the case lodged by her has not been making any headway as her husband is purchasing people in the police and judiciary with money. The commission members assured her that in case her tale of suffering has any substance the court would do justice. They asked her to fight the case out in the court.
