On the orders of Agriculture, Horticulture and Silk Development Minister Subodh Uniyal, the Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash has constituted a three-member inquiry committee for delay in construction of a road in Rishikesh.

The construction of the road stretch from Kailash Gate to Muni Ki Reti in Rishikesh is pending for long.

The Minister called the senior officers of the PWD and State Government and reviewed the progress of the road at his office in Vidhan Sabha on Monday. He found the road which was estimated to be constructed at a cost of Rs 4 Crore in the year 2006 has now escalated to Rs 50 Crore. The budget for the road was not released for many years and in the revised estimates the budget escalated to Rs 35 Crores in the year 2013.

The Minister ordered that the three lane road should be constructed within a period of six months. After finding the inordinate delay in the construction of the important road a committee headed by the Chief Engineer was appointed.

Two technical advisers would be the members of the committee.

The committee would submit its report within seven days mentioning the cause of the delay in the construction of the road.
