The police have arrested three persons involved in two shooting incidents which resulted in the death of two persons in Dehradun. Dehradun SSP Ajay Rautela informed the media that Vikasnagar native Rupesh Tyagi and Muzaffarnagar (UP) native Sudhir were offered Rs 7 lakh by local property dealer Imran to eliminate Dharmpal Singh. They had murdered Singh on February 12 this year and when Imran appeared reluctant to pay them, they had shot his mother on March 11 at Imran’s home.
Tyagi was arrested with one CAl 30 bore Chinese gun and seven bullets while Sudhir had three bullets on him when they were arrested in the State capital on Wednesday. On being interrogated the duo said that Dharmpal Singh and Imran were involved in dispute on a plot of land in Majra. Singh had got the land deal agreement signed in his name removing Imran from the deal.
However, Imran claimed that the land was his as he had got the land deal executed. In the past Imran had spent time in jail where he had met Tyagi and Sudhir. With his dispute with Singh intensifying, Imran contacted these two and offered them Rs 7 lakh for murdering Singh. He paid them Rs 1 lakh on the day they shot Singh and agreed to pay them another lakh in a few days, while the remaining Rs 5 lakh would be paid after the plot of land in question was sold.
However, a few days after Singh’s murder, Imran purportedly started showing reluctance in paying them the Rs 1 lakh as agreed upon earlier. Tyagi and Sudhir repeatedly asked him for the money and later went to his home and shot his mother thinking her to be Imran. Finding Imran the main accused in the conspiracy to murder Singh, the police arrested him from his home.
On being interrogated, Imran confessed to have got Singh murdered. According to the police, Tyagi and Sudhir used a cycle while carrying out both the shootings. The cycle was also seized by the police.
