A three-day Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign will begin at Someshwar in Almora district from March 19. Addressing mediapersons at Someshwar, the deputy director of the Press Information Bureau, Prakash Thapliyal informed that chairman of the Zila Panchayat Almora, Mohan Ram Arya and the district magistrate Akshat Gupta will inaugurate the campaign.
Thapliyal told that the campaign was aimed at creating an informed public opinion about the flagship programmes of the Union Government like MNREGA, National Rural Health Mission, Right to Information, Sarva Shiksha, Mid-day Meal, Integrated Child Development etc.
Spearheaded by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), five more media units of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting participate in these campaigns besides the local District administration across the country. So far more than 500 such campaigns have been held in the country during the last seven years while in Uttarakhand 15 such campaigns have already been mounted.
The Bharat Nirman campaigns are held in shape of a rural fair in which the resource persons on central schemes speak amidst cultural performances given by the dance troupe of the Song and Drama Division of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. An exhibition spread over around two dozen stalls is also put up at the Campaign site. Doordarshan and Akashvani are also associated with the public information campaign. Thapliyal said that a health baby show will be held on March 20 and Sarva Shiksha rally will be taken out on March 21.
