Amidst vedic rituals, the students were introduced to their new inmates and teachers during the 28th induction ceremony held at Dev Sanskriti Vishwa Vidyalaya on Thursday  a tradition that  stands at  variance with the culture of ragging that marks such induction in many of institutions across the country and the world.

The freshers pledged to lead a balanced life by taking holy water in their hands by way of the induction rituals.

Presiding over the function as chief guest, vice -chancellor of Patanjali University Acharya Bal Krishna  elucidated on  what ‘Gyan Diksha’ signified to the students. He exhorted them to follow the foot prints left by the great saints and seers who embodied true knowledge as removed from the conventional knowledge being  imparted from other institutions. “Our culture is without  peer. This university is meant to make the students the ideal human beings in keeping with the hoary tradition of the holy land,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, chancellor of DSVV Pranav Pandya said, “There is a need to revamp our education system which has turned  frightfully commercialised. Man -making education combined with practical education must be introduced to arrest the trend of  the educational institutions begetting commercialised machines. The newly introduced concept of internship by the university to send the new passouts in the welfare projects of the society is gaining recognition and  appreciation across the world.”

He  asked the newly initiated students to inculcate selflessness. “They must hold the  ‘Gyan mashals’ (torch of knowledge) and pass them to others when the time comes. This is the mission with which the institution was established,” he added.
