Reacting to the 2017-18 budget, the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Pritam Singh opined that it had disappointed the common people. He stated that in the budget, the government had not made any provision for welfare of the poor, labourers, farmers and youth by linking them with employment. “What the state needs now is that budgetary provision be made for generating employment opportunities. However, by not making budgetary provision related to tackling unemployment, the government has also affected the morale of the youth,” said Singh.
The PCC president further said that the most serious problem facing Uttarakhand is how to mitigate migration. The Government has not made any concrete attempts in the budget to meet the serious challenge of stopping migration. The government has disappointed the people of Uttarakhand by not making any provision for mitigating migration whereas prior to the election the Bharatiya Janata Party had promised to make a concrete policy for stopping migration. Accusing the Government of ignoring all sections of society in the budget, the PCC president said that the budget will fuel price rise and the unemployment problem in the State.
