IPS’s new patronIJ

A seasoned IPS officer, adept in crafting his way forward through sheer sycophancy, has now his table turned on him following the change of guard in the state.   However, nature  being disinclined to change, the incorrigible sycophant is now going out of his way to get into the good book of a newly elected legislator who happens to be a former chief minister of the state. When his star was in the ascendency as he was a member of the charmed circle, he had treated many who had helped him to reach the dizzy heights of power with contempt. However, his career now showing a downward curve, his tactic of flattering his way forward is not paying the desired dividends.  The former CM whom he has been trying hard to humour is now choosing to keep him at arm’s length.   Despite knowing that his game is over, the indomitable cop is unwilling to throw up his hands. Feeling like a duck out of water while away   from   the power-centre, he would try every trick in the book to cling to it. However, things are unlikely to unfold the way he wishes as the people who would adorn the new power centre are determined to keep him at bay.

Babu desperate to continue

Seemingly edgy over a media report hinting at his imminent transfer in the wake of the regime change,   a senior IAS officer is going out of his way to show his competence. Desperate to cling to his chair, he has opened channels straight with the mighty Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).  Not confident yet, he has instructed his juniors to study the vision document unveiled by BJP during the electioneering and to chalk out future plans in tune with it.  Flouting the norms of such meetings being kept out of bounds for the media, he is said to have asked an official, much junior to him in the bureaucratic echelons, to disseminate the information to the media. It can be justly supposed that he is now engaged in mending fences with the new ruling party after committing the blunder of swearing for the return of the now-ousted dispensation. However, all said and done, the sword of transfer would continue to dangle on his scared head with the new government waiting to take the reins of the state.
