Gold-tainted MlA

Things are turning interesting after the Harish Rawat Government has constituted a special investigative team (SIT) with alacrity to probe into alleged attempt by a  BJP MlA to convert  unaccounted- for money into gold  a few hours after the Prime Minister went for the note ban announcement. Election in the offing, BJP is certainly finding itself on a sticky wicket. The crafty CM would do everything to expedite the probe so as to hem in the BJP lawmaker from all sides. If that happens it would prove difficult for state BJP to claim that it is a crusader against corruption. They would fail to use with conviction the demonetization drive to bring home the point that they are  all Mr Cleans contrasted with  the scam-blackened Congress leaders . It is certain that the ensuing electoral battle would boil down to a fight between the personas of PM Modi and CM Rawat. And in that case, it would be an advantage Rawat scenario as his  adversary would be  on the back foot defending the gold-tainted MlA.

Crumbling IPSdom

Many of the state’s junior IPS officers  are  sulking  over their seniors dealing with them shabbily. They contrast things with the IASs to bring home the point that the junior IASs are far better off. One of such sulking IPS officers did not mince words while criticizing his seniors for cold-shouldering them. Even they do not allow them to speak their minds out during IPS association meetings, he grumbled. This is an ignominy for them while contrastingly the IAS top brass deals with the juniors with affection, guiding them as to how to withstand  political pressure, runs the critical refrain  among the resenting IPS juniors. This is what is spawning factions within the fraternity to the detriment of the efficiency of the force, they say. Plum postings are being given to the minions by the mighty seniors heading factions while others are left to vegetate in the bogs of indifference. This is bound to take uglier forms in the coming days unless  the rot is stemmed right now, warn the grumbling juniors.
